new art deco inspiration
For Autumn/Winter of 2014 I have decided to use an exhibition on Art Deco fashion photography and Art Deco costumes as inspiration!
I visited the exhibition when I visited Melbourne last December, and I have always wanted to use some Art Deco inspirtaion in my work... plus I have some vintage fabrics from this era that I have been dying to use!!!
The collection of fashion designs featured in this newsletter are just the beginning of what I plan to design for this Autumn and Winter. I have only just started to experiment with ideas and I hope to create more and more. Time is my only enemy - since I am still a full time Mum to my little boy!
the retro tunic dress: below
The Retro Tunic Dress was created in a purple printed sleeve two Winter's ago, and it was such a big hit!
Once I came across this amazing print I knew I simply had to use it in this dress! This style of tunic dress, with the full flared sleeve, shows off the print to its full potential, while the black body keeps the dress being a very wearable style.
Pair this dress with knee high boots and chunky jewellery.
the vintage houndstooth dress: created from a vintage houndstooth print
Made from a very unique vintage fabric, printed in houndstooth, and using a beautiful classic style. This dress could suit many occasions; the office; a wedding; a party.
new designs in the shop online
new penelope red jersey knit designs
I have recently been working on some new jersey knit designs to be featured in the online shop. I have noticed over the past few years that jersey knit tops and dresses have become my most popular designs for my online shoppers. I guess because they are the most forgiving when it comes to fit. The coming Autumn/Winter range will feature a new take on some of my most popular styles, as well as some completely different styles that I have been dying to try out!
the art nouveau dress: above
The dress pictured above is all about the placement of the print. The way the print falls on the body means that it accentuates the waist and curves of your body.
The fabric is a very soft rayon/elastane, like most of my knit designs. I loved this design so much that I had to keep a copy for myself, and there will only be three copies of this design worldwide!
more designs coming
More Penelope Red fashion designs will be added to my etsy shop online. The below photos, featuring a blouse made from art deco era vintage fabric; a black and white collared cross over jersey knit top; and a bright pink dress with a lace V-back, are just some of the fashion designs I have been working on! If you would like to be updated as soon as new designs are finished, please like my facebook page or twitter account- it is the best way to keep informed!
the one of a kind design above:
Since the above design is a one of a kind design, I am offering it to my newsletter readers first, before I list it in the online shop. It is a Navy Blue rayon/elastane jersey knit top, and the hem falls to high hip area. The neck line is a cowl neck, and is the same as the Art Nouveau dress featured in the photos above in this newsletter.
The flared sleeves are made from a printed silk/cotton blend, and it has a really cute design of people holding up flags of different colours in the wind as buses go by. A very interesting and unusual print and I have never seen before anything like it!
If you have any enquiries about the above one of a kind design, or any of the designs featured in this newsletter, please email me (Penelope) on: email@example.com
